"Pretty good for something that is not a Mac" 2010-04-07

I got this machine recently at a Radio Shack. Went in just for some blank DVD discs, and saw this cute little thing. It jumped up and down and wagged its tail until I had to take it home. I didn't need it, but it was too adorable to pass up. I already have a (first generation) Kindle that I love, so I did not need to read Kindle books on the hp, but I do. [One drawback to that is, altho I can access my books on the hp Kindle function, I cannot access my samples!!! What's up with that?] Being a long-time Mac person, I am less enthralled with anything pc than most, but am getting along OK with the hp's Windows 7 Starter OS. I like being able to take it to bed with me and play card games, or read without having to leave the light on, as I do with the Kindle's non-backlit screen. And, even though someone complained about the battery life on this, it is good enough for me; I can carry the hp to doctor appointments and amuse myself in the waiting room while waiting too long to be called. So this is not going to make me leave my Mac in the dust, but it is fun. I may break down and get the mouse for it ... am not fond of the touch pad on the hp because the cursor jumps unexpectedly around the screen. Oh, and tho I have not skyped with it yet, am looking forward to using the built in mike, cam, and speakers. Would not recommend it for playing music; speakers are a little tinny for that.
